Playboy was born and
raised in Scotland! Though not a huge hit in that neck of the world,
it's truly a beloved rose in the United States. With its brilliant
colors and profusion of bloom, Playboy really lights up a garden. To
keep it blooming throughout the growing season, be sure to remove
spent flowers, since Playboy readily sets hips.
Can reach 3 to 4 feet in height with
rounded bush form.
Flowers have six to nine ruffly petals
and often bloom in clusters. Good as cut flower and in arrangements.
Petals gradually fade to pink as it ages.
Shiny green foliage has pretty good
disease resistance, though it does develop mild blackspot in rainy
periods and spottings of powdery mildew as warm summer days give way
to cooler fall nights. Available
at area nurseries. |
